Infrastructure
WAN/LAN/Firewall:
Our internet feeds are multi-Gigabit bandwidth connections into four of the top five Internet backbone carriers, including AT&T, MCI/Verizon (UUNET), Qwest, and Level3.
Firewall and Intrusion Prevention starts at the perimeter of our network provided by the award-winning Top Layer IPS 5500. This appliance has been designed to deliver non-disruptive protection against risks and losses associated with cyber threats and network attacks.
Each server is then connected to a best-in-breed appliance such as Cisco and Dell switches insuring a clean reliable connection.
Servers/Backups/Monitoring:
We deploy only top quality Dell PowerEdge servers.
Backups are taken of every server daily to disk first which insures that backups are completed quickly and efficiently. We manage over 8TB of backup storage on disk with top quality products by EMC. In addition we backup from disk to tape. Tapes secured offsite to insure total disaster recovery is possible.
Servers and equipment are constantly monitored by our staff using IPMonitor and a second internal notification system for critical systems.
Security/Power/Cooling/Fire Protection:
There are five levels of security required to gain physical access to securely hosted servers including:
Code Access Lock
Security Guard station
Biometric Hand Scanner
Steel doors and Proximity Security Badge locks
In addition to physical access security, the entire data center is monitored 24x7 by security cameras and on-site personal. Cameras are positioned at every entrance, each and every rack. All security cameras are recorded.
The building receives electricity from three separate power feeds on a spot network that provides for automatic failover capabilities. The Data Center maintains level current and short term power backup through a complex UPS system, and protects against possible long-term power failures with two 1.5 megawatt diesel generators.
Ideal temperature and humidity is accurately controlled with redundant cooling systems.
Smoke detection is achieved through state-of-the-art VESDA detection/alarm system. Fire protection is provided through a pre-action, dry pipe fire suppression system. This insures that our equipment can be properly evaluated prior to making the water system active thus reducing the possibility of accidental or mechanical failure.
